JGTA Taiwan Junior Championship
Champions were crowned today for the second event on the JGTA schedule, the JGTA Taiwan Junior Championship at NGCC. Multiple players were within striking distance of the lead and it was a battle to the finish.
Jana Ni (2021) of Beijing, China took the Girl’s Division, finishing at six-over-par with scores of 72-76-74. Ni is ranked 173rd on the AJGA Rolex Rankings.
“I was very surprised by my win here at the JGTA Taiwan Junior Championship. We were neck and neck for most of the final round. I would like to thank my parents and my coach. My parents put in a lot of effort. I know it was a lot of work to follow me out on the course”.
Natachanok Tunwannarux (2023) of Bangkok, Thailand and Jingfan Deng (2020) of Shanghai, China finished T2 with tournament totals of nine-over-par 226.
Junyi Tang (2021) of Beijing, China, the top ranked Boy in the field with fully exempt AJGA status, took the Boy’s Division, finishing at three-over-par with scores of 73-72-74. Tang is ranked T112 on the AJGA Rolex Rankings.
“I thought that I could have improved upon my round today because I did not putt well on the back nine. I did not make any big mistakes and my score reflected it. I thought someone in the final group would shoot a score under par and I am lucky to have won”.
Willy Chen (2022) of Taipei, Taiwan finished second with a tournament total of 220. Ting Yu Chen (2019) of Taoyuan, Taiwan and Yin Ho Yue (2018) of Hong Kong finished tied for third with tournament totals of five-over-par 216.
