With a new schedule of Sanctioned Events for the 2021-2022 season, the JGTA opens the Junior Order of Merit to non-Tour Card holders for first time.
The Junior Golf Tour of Asia (JGTA) is excited to announce its return to junior golf, together with a growing schedule of sanctioned events for the 2021-2022 season.
As part of its mission to foster the growth of junior golf in the region, the JGTA will begin awarding Merit Points to all eligible participants of Sanctioned Events in May 2021, allowing players to become ranked on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit – the official ranking system of the JGTA and the source for AJGA PBE Status in the region – without the need to hold an active JGTA Tour card. For the first time, all aspiring juniors across the Asia-Pacific will have the opportunity to compete for an earn AJGA PBE Status through local competition.
“We know the last year and a half has not been easy for junior golfers, especially those who aspire for College golf”, says Phil Tozer, Managing Director of the JGTA. “The Tour’s decision to allow all participants of Sanctioned Events to earn merit points and be ranked on the Junior Order of Merit is meant to provide a boost to junior golf activity in the region.”
In step with the JGTA’s dedication to its member base, the JGTA has added PGA Junior Series events in China to the list of Sanctioned Events for the 2021-2022 season. Players results on the PGA Junior Series will count towards their ranking on the Junior Order of Merit.
While players are no longer required to be a member of the JGTA to be ranked. all players are required to meet the JGTA’s competitive eligibility criteria and complete registration on JGTA.ORG to verify their eligible junior golf status prior to earning a ranking on the Junior Order of Merit. Only after the player has been verified, the player’s ranking will be visible on the Junior Order of Merit.
Just as it has since in all year prior, the JGTA will award AJGA PBE Status to the 60 top-ranked juniors (30 boys and 30 girls) on the Junior Order of Merit. The amount of AJGA PBE Status a competitor earns on the JGTA are added to their total AJGA PBE Status and can be utilized for AJGA tournament applications.
