Tournament Sanctioning

As the Sanctioning Body for junior golf tournaments that award AJGA PBE Status in the Asia-Pacific, the JGTA considers all qualified tournaments in the Asia-Pacific for official sanctioning.  Participants of Sanctioned Events have the opportunity to be ranked on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit, the source for AJGA PBE Status in the region.

There are various requirements that the tournament organizers must meet in order to adhere to the basic competitive principles of the AJGA and demonstrate a commitment to the AJGA’s mission of supporting the next generation of college golfers. A general overview of the Sanctioning requirements are provided below.

Tournament Organizers are asked to contact the JGTA for the complete information regarding Event Sanctioning.

Organizer Responsibility:

Tournament organizers requesting sanctioning are required to conform to the standards and regulations of the Junior Golf Tour of Asia in order for their competition to be considered for sanctioning. It is the responsibility of the organizer to demonstrate to the JGTA that they have sufficiently met all of the requirements and expectations for sanctioning.

General Eligibility:

Technical Requirements:

  • Age divisions including players aged 11 to 18 years are eligible for sanctioning.
  • A minimum of 5 eligible and verified players in the overall age division (which includes players 18 years) must complete all official tournament rounds for the event to be sanctioned.
  • A minimum of 5 eligible and verified players any given age division must complete all official tournament rounds for that age division to be sanctioned.
  • Except when permitted by the JGTA Committee, players are prohibited from using caddies or golf cars without prior medical approval. Players are responsible for carrying their own bag during the competitive round. In stroke play, penalty for breach of this rule is two strokes per hole, maximum of four strokes per round. In stroke play, use of any unauthorized caddie or golf car shall be discontinued immediately upon discovering that a breach has occurred. Otherwise, the player shall be disqualified.
  • The event must be governed by the AJGA Hard Card, USGA or R&A Rules.
  • Pertaining to Local Rules: no double par pick up shall be permitted; players shall not be permitted to choose between a drop at the nearest point for OB or concede of a lost ball for a 2-shot penalty.

Player Verification:

In order for a player’s junior golf profile to be verified, the player must register with the email that they provided to the organizers of the Sanctioned Event. The JGTA will inspect all verification forms submitted on JGTA.ORG to ensure only genuine users who represent participants in JGTA-sanctioned events will have their results recognized and earn a ranking on the Junior Order of Merit.

Tournament organizers are expected to communicate the importance of completing verification to all participants and parents prior to and during the event. Players are encouraged to complete verification in advance of the tournament. Verification process can be started here.

Additional Requirements:

A minimum of one (1) JGTA official must be present at each official tournament round of sanctioned competition. These, and other costs associated with sanctioning of the event are the responsibility of the tournament organizer. The JGTA may also require a guarantee of a minimum allocation of spots in the tournament field to current Tour members.

Tournament organizers are welcome to submit their requests and accompanying materials via email to team@jgta.org. For general inquiries about having your event sanctioned, please fill out and submit the form below.
