Round 1 - JGTA Taiwan Junior Championship

Junior golfers from 9 countries teed off today at NGCC marking the first official round of the JGTA Taiwan Junior Championship, the second event of the Junior Golf Tour of Asia’s  2017-2018 season.

After round one of the event, Ting Yu Chen (2019) of Taoyuan, Taiwan and Chih Yi Huang (2019) of Taoyuan, Taiwan hold a share of the lead with scores of 1-under-par 71. Huang carded four birdies while Chen carded three.

Seven other boys are within two strokes of the lead including Louis Chen (2018) of Shenzhen, China, Willi Chen (2022) of Taipei, Taiwan and University of Oregon Commit Yin Ho Yue (2018) of Hong Kong.
Jana Ni (2021) of Beijing, China and Natachanok Tunwannarux (2023) of Bangkok, Thailand hold a share of the lead in the girls division, both carding even-par scores of 72. Ni carded four birdies while Tunwannarux carded three.

Mariel Isabella Tee (2020) of Pasig City, Philippines and Joy Yang (2018) of Laguna Niguel, California trail the leader girls with scores of one-over-par 73 and two-over-par 74. Other notable scores include AJGA Memorial 2017 winner Jingfan Deng shooting a 3-over-par 75 and JGTA Bintan Lagoon Junior Championship winner Camille Boyd shooting a four-over-par 76.

The second of three rounds of the JGTA Taiwan Junior Championship takes place tomorrow morning.
