Bangladesh Open
The Asian Tour Bangladesh Open is being held at the Kurmitola Golf Club (May 9-12). This is the fourth consecutive Bangladesh Open and the leading bank in Bangladesh, AB Bank, is the title sponsor of the event.
Janewattananond Jazz of Thailand won the event in 2017 by four strokes, carding scores of 64-67-69-67. Rahman Siddikur of Bangladesh came in second place, carding scores of 71-66-68-66.
Siddikur is a driving force for hope in professional golf in Bangladesh and has won two times on the Asian Tour. His first victory was in 2010 in the Brunei Open after besting Jbe’ Kruger of South Africa in a playoff. He carded scores of 64-67-70-67. His second victory came in 2013 at the Hero Indian Open. He finished one stroke ahead of Anirban Lahiri of India and Shiv Chawrasia of India after shooting scores of 66-66-67-75. Other past winners include Thitiphun Chuayprakong of Thailand and Mardan Mamat of Singapore.
Among the many AJGA Members competing on the Asian Tour, Paul Peterson of the U.S. has the highest ranking, currently sitting in sixth in the Habitat for Humanity standings. Trailing Peterson is Daniel Nisbet of Australia and Masahiro Kawamura of Japan.
