AJGA WinCraft / McArthur Towel & Sports Future Legends
The beauty of The Legend at Merrill Hills masks the difficulty of the course as shown by the higher scores on the leaderboard. The field for the event featured 96 competitors, ages 12-19, including a few from the JGTA.
The day prior to the tournament, an AJGA Qualifier was held to give players an opportunity to “play their way in” to the Open event and earn PBE status for a future event. Honghong Zhou (2021) of Beijing, China won the qualifier, shooting a score of 4-over-par 76. Not only did she gain entry into the event, but she earned 4 AJGA PBE Stars.
Yiting Pan (2021) of Shanghai, China finished T2 in the qualifier, earning her a couple of AJGA PBE Stars to use to gain entry into future events. Pan finished 17th on the Junior Order of Merit last season, with her best finish being 5th at the JGTA Bogor Junior Championship Hosted By Sentul Highlands Golf Club
In the Girl’s Division, a total of three competitors from the JGTA finished in the top-5. 2017-2018 Junior Order of Merit and JGTA Bintan Lagoon Junior Championship presented by dwell Student Living champion Camille Boyd (2020) of (USA) Shanghai, China finished 2nd overall in the event, firing scores of 75-72-75. With her 2nd place finish, Boyd’s Rolex AJGA Ranking is now 32nd overall.
JGTA Junior All-Asia Team Member Yiyang Xu (2021) of Shanghai, China finished 4th, her best AJGA finish to date. After qualifying into the event, Honghong Zhou (2021) of Beijing, China finished in 5th place, taking home 12 AJGA PBE Stars.

D.A. Points Junior Championship sponsored by Pekin Insurance and UnityPoint Health
The Southern Junior presented by Tradewinds Furnishing tournament champion, Ieong Sin Kuan (2020) of Macau’s summer just keeps getting better and better. She finished in 4th place at the D.A. Points Junior Championship sponsored by Pekin Insurance and UnityPoint Health with scores of 74-72-71.
Kuan’s top 4 finish proves hard work pays off, following scores of T12, T10 and now solo 4th in each AJGA event she’s played.

AJGA Junior All-Star presented by the Spinnaker Foundation
The AJGA Junior All-Star presented by the Spinnaker Foundation boasted a 78-player field, 7 of which were from the JGTA. Taking home the best finish in the Girl’s Division was Hoi Ki Lau (2022) of Hong Kong, SAR. She finished T2 in the qualifier, earning her a couple of AJGA PBE Stars and finished T7 in the event. This is her second top-10 AJGA finish this summer, her first being a T2 finish at the Mahoning Valley Hospital Foundation Junior All-Star. Lau is quickly making a name for herself on the AJGA circuit with a Rolex AJGA Ranking of T347.
Leading the charge in the Boy’s Division was JGTA Junior Order of Merit Champion and Hong Kong Junior Classic at Clearwater Bay champion Pongsapak Laopakdee (2023) of Rayong, Thailand. Laopakdee finished T9 in the event and added to his resume of solid AJGA performances. In addition to his top-10 finish, Laopakdee won the Qualifier for the event, his second qualifier win of the summer.

IMG Academy Junior World Championship
Three players from the JGTA finished in the Top-3 in the IMG Academy Junior World Championship in their respective divisions. Class of 2025 star Eila Galitsky of Chiang Mai, Thailand took home the 3rd place finish in the Girl’s 11-12 Division. Galitsky shot 69-72-70 to finish 8-under-par for the event. Galitsky was one of the JGTA’s rising stars this season, taking home T3 on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit and JGTA Junior All-Asia Team Honors.
Two-time JGTA Champion and Junior All-Asia Team member Natachanok Tunwannarux (2023) of Bangkok, Thailand took home 3rd place in the Girl’s 13-14 Division. Tunwannarux shot 70-70-72 for a tournament total of 4-under-par 212. In addition to her JGTA accolades, Tunwannarux is an AJGA Champion and her current Rolex AJGA Ranking is 154.

Enagic Junior Championship
JGTA Champion and Marquette University commit Bhitchayoot Sima-Aree (2019) of Nonthaburi, Thailand finished 8th in the Enagic Junior Championship, a tournament stacked with junior golf talent.
The top-6 Girl’s Division finishers were from Asia, including ATI Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World 2019 presented by AKI Girl’s Overall Champion Phannarai Meesom-Us (2022) of Chonburi, Thailand and JGTA Taiwan Junior Champion and 2017-2018 JGTA Junior All-Asia Team member Jiamin (Jana) Ni (2021) of Beijing, China.

Folds of Honor Junior Championship Hosted By Bob Estes
The Folds of Honor Junior Championship hosted by Bob Estes is notorious for having results well under par. The pace changed this year, and players battled Abilene Country Club’s South Course in this long-standing event. Remember 20117-2018 JGTA Junior All-Asia Team Member Yingzhi Zhu (2022) of Nanjing, China? She made the move to the U.S.and in her new home state of Texas, she finished T2 in the event, firing scores of 76-73-73.

Junior Golf Hub Championship
Yoonjeong Huh (2023) of (South Korea) Kailua-Kona, Hawaii added to her already impressive summer of competing with a 4th place finish at the Junior Golf Hub Championship, finishing just 3-strokes behind the winner of the event. This is her 5th top-10 finish to date in AJGA events and with her 4th place finish, her Rolex AJGA Ranking has improved to 135.
Finishing in 10th place was JGTA Bogor Junior Championship Hosted By Sentul Highlands Golf Club winner Mariel Isabella Tee (2020) of Pasig City, Philippines. She fired a steady 75-74-73 in route to her Top-10 finish and will be making her 3rd AJGA start of the summer at the AJGA Junior at Chicopee presented by John D. Mineck Foundation.

Judie Oppenheimer Memorial Junior
Palmetto Hall Plantation Club – Arthur Hills Course in Hilton Head Island, SC
JGTA Bintan Lagoon Junior Championship presented by Tradewinds Furnishing winner Justin Sun (2022) of Shenzhen, China captured a 7th place finish at the Judie Oppenheimer Memorial Junior, his second-best AJGA finish to date. Scores of 73-75-69 put him just 4-strokes back of the champion of the event.

AJGA Junior All-Star at Quail Creek presented by City of Robinson
Two steadfast JGTA competitors, Kaijun Ma (2022) of Macau, SAR and Aksel Moe (2023) of Richville, Minnesota finished in the top-10 at the AJGA Junior All-Star at Quail Creek presented by City of Robinson. Ma shot 71-70-74 for a tournament total of 2-over-par 215. This was Ma’s first AJGA event, and with a 5th place finish, he is on the right track.
Moe fired 74-69-75 for a tournament total of 5-over-par 218 and a T7 finish. This finish marks his best in his AJGA career.
