The Southern Junior presented by Tradewinds Furnishing Field
China’s very first JGTA event, The Southern Junior presented by Tradewinds Furnishing, takes place this week at Foshan Golf Club in the South China city of Foshan. The field is comprised of 78 of Asia’s best AJGA and JGTA members, many of which are currently ranked on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit, the official ranking system of the tour. A few new names are in the field, and there is no telling who will come out on top.
Players from 9 countries including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Australia, Fiji, Canada, and the U.S. are teeing it up this week and 350+ AJGA PBE Stars are represented in the field. Below are players to keep your eye on throughout the week on JGTA’s Live Scoring:
JGTA Junior Order of Merit and All-Asia Team Stars
In the Girls Division, Eila Galitsky (2025) of Chiang Mai, Thailand is the lowest-ranked player on the Junior Order of Merit in the field – sitting forth for two consecutive events. She finished second in the Bintan Lagoon Junior Championship presented by Tradewinds Furnishings Singapore and T4 at the Hong Kong Junior Classic at Clearwater Bay. Trailing just behind Galitsky is Yulin Chen (2021) of Guangzhou, China, and Nga Wun (Tiffany) Wu (2020) of Hong Kong.
Making her first debut this season is Columbia University commit and 2017-2018 JGTA All-Asia team member Annie Sun (2019) of Beijing, China. Her best JGTA finish in her JGTA career was runner up at the 2017 Bintan Lagoon Junior Championship presented by dwell Student Living. Sun has a handful of AJGA top-10s under her belt.
In the Boys Division, it is Markus Lam (2023) of Hong Kong who has the lowest rank on the Junior Order of Merit Ranking in the field. Lam sits fifth in the rankings – a pivotal position for the Hong Kong native to be as he heads into his 3rd event of the season. Lam finished 2nd at the Bintan Lagoon Junior Championship presented by Tradewinds Furnishings Singapore and T10 at the Hong Kong Junior Classic at Clearwater Bay. Just one spot back from Lam is Masaki Ujiie (2020) of Guam, USA who is no stranger to the top 10. Closely behind Ujiie is HanZhe Zhou (2021) of Chengdu, China, and Jui-Tung Wu (2021) of Kaohsiung, Taiwan – both with T3 finishes at the Hong Kong Junior Classic at Clearwater Bay.
