ATI Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World 2019 presented by AKI
The JGTA Junior Order of Merit finale, the ATI Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World 2019 presented by AKI, taking place next week at Damai Indah Golf’s Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) Course will feature stars from 11 countries in the JGTA Division including China, Taiwan, Macau SAR, USA, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, India, Hong Kong SAR, Malaysia, and Thailand. Being that it is the JGTA Junior Order of Merit Finale, players are competing to stake their claim of AJGA PBE Status through their final ranking, including the Player’s of the Year (Junior Order of Merit Champions) and All-Asia Team members.
In the Boys Division, three JGTA Champions are looking to become the first in JGTA History to win for a second time – Pongsapak Laopakdee (2023) of Rayong, Thailand, Songge Jiang (2021) of Zhangjiagang, China and Kentaro Nanayama (2021) of Jakarta, Indonesia. The three were champions of the Hong Kong Junior Classic at Clearwater Bay, The Southern Junior presented by Tradewinds Furnishing, and the JGTA Bogor Junior Championship hosted by Sentul Highlands Golf Club. Laopakdee holds the lead in the JGTA Junior Order of Merit, and if he were to win, he would become the first JGTA Junior Order of Merit Champion from Thailand.
In the Girls Division, champion of The Southern Junior presented by Tradewinds Furnishing, Ieong Sin Kuan (2020) of Macau SAR looks to follow up her sudden-death playoff win with a win at the ATI Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World 2019 presented by AKI. Kuan sits in 4th place on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit and a solid finish could make things interesting atop the rankings. Phoebe Peng (2022) of Shenzhen, China and Yiyang Xu (2021) of Shanghai, China are the next best-ranked players competing.
Making her return to the JGTA for the first time since her win at the JGTA Phuket Junior Open in 2018 is Nattachanok Tunwannarux (2023) of Bangkok, Thailand. Tunwannarux finished second on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit in 2018 and became an AJGA Champion last summer, winning the Foley Performance Academy @ EaglesDream Junior All-Star.
Stay tuned for the action.
