AJGA Weekend Recap
This AJGA weekend played host to four Tournaments including the Callaway Golf/Ollie Schniederjans Junior Classic, the AJGA Preview at Champions, the AJGA Preview at Worthington Manner, and the AJGA Junior All-Star presented by Explore York. The weekend featured first time and local winners.
The University of Georgia commit Nicolas Cassidy (2019) of Johns Creek, Georgia and J.Holland Humphries (2021) of Austin, Texas battled to the finish at the Callaway Golf/Ollie Schniederjans Junior Classic. Finishing at three-under-par, Cassidy took home the trophy with scores of 75-66-72. A clutch birdie on number 15 put him ahead of Humphries and he maintained his lead through 18. This is Cassidy’s third AJGA victory. Sophie Guo (2019) of (China) Orlando, Florida took home the Girl’s Division title after firing scores of 69-70-74. She finished six shots ahead of second-place finisher Lauren Beaudreau (2019) of Lemont, Illinois. Guo is a University of North Carolina commit and this is her fourth AJGA victory.
Paighton Masterson (2019) of Avon Lake, Ohio won the Girl’s Division at the AJGA Preview at Champions. She finished 13 over par for the tournament, one stroke ahead of Macy Hanus (2020) Bowling Green, Ohio. Jack Beckett (2020) of Cincinnati, Ohio was crowned champion after firing 76-74 for a tournament total of ten-over-par 150. Aidan Schumer (2020) of Columbus, Ohio finished in second, one stroke behind Beckett.
Angus Ricks (2020) of Arlington, Virginia was crowned champion of the AJGA Preview at Worthington Manor after firing 76-75 for a tournament total of seven-over-par 151. Five birdies in his final round led him to victory. Angelique Seymour (2019) of Fayetteville, North Carolina fired a second-round 82 to clinch her victory by two shots over Jenn David (2019) of Hudson, Ohio.
York local Carson Bacha (2020) shot an impressive 67-70 to finish at seven-under-par to clinch a victory at the AJGA Junior All-Star presented by Explore York. Bacha finished six shots ahead of T2 finishers Drue Nicholas (2020) of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey and Kelly Chinn (2021) of Great Falls, Virginia. Yoona Kim (2020) of (South Korea) Fair Lawn, New Jersey bested the field with scores of 71-74 for a tournament total of one-over-par 145 in the Girl’s Division. This was Kim’s last Junior All-Star, and this was her first AJGA win.
Next weekend will feature the Rome Junior Classic presented by State Mutual Insurance Company, the AJGA Preview at Meadowbrook, the AJGA Preview at Waubeeka and the AJGA Preview at Forsgate (Ages 12-15).
