Top-5 Moments of the 2019-2020 Season

While the 2019-2020 season halted to a stop early due to the Covid-19 crisis, the mission continues on. Players’ performances in the 2019-2020 season broke every JGTA record to date, and the level of competition continues to increase by each event on the Tour. Short and sweet is an understatement.

Buckle up…here are the Top-5 Moments of the season.

Honghong Zhou and Xinyi Wang Hole-in-Ones

This season, we had not one, but two hole-in-ones on the JGTA. First up was Honghong Zhou (2021) of Beijing, China, scoring a hole-in-one at The Southern Junior, the first event of the season. Following her hole-in-one up and keeping the streak alive was Xinyi Wang (2022) of Tianjin, China, making a hole-in-one at the Junior Aspirations at The Bluffs.

Aksel Moe Shattering Records

Aksel Moe stepped up to the first tee at the Junior Aspirations at The Bluffs a seasoned JGTA vet at just the class of 2023. He began competing on the Tour in 2017 and has played extensively in the AJGA. The Junior Aspirations at The Bluffs was by far his best performance on the Tour, and the best performance we have seen over the last three seasons. He fired 72-66-65, besting the low tournament total record previously held by Purdue University commit Kentaro Nanayama (2021) of Jakarta, Indonesia and the low score record of 66, held by two competitors.

Jiabao Song Comeback Victory at The Southern Junior

Jiabao Song (2021) of Shanghai, China entered The Southern Junior at Zhuhai Golden Gulf Golf Club competing in just one event prior. She fell victim of harsh winds in round one and battled back over the next two rounds to capture a come from behind victory, remaining stable in the final round.

Samantha Marie Dizon Breaking Records

Samantha Marie Dizon had arguably the most dominant victory of the season at the Junior Aspirations at The Bluffs. In her first JGTA event, she shot 70-67-72 to finish the event at 5-under-par and post the JGTA Girls low-score record as well as low tournament total record. Her first-place finish was 9 strokes better than the competitors behind her, dusting the field at the Bluffs.

First long Drive Contest at The Southern Junior

The first TaylorMade Long Drive Contest in the history of the JGTA had one of the best moments of the season. Numerous competitors hit their drives, and three players made it to the final long drive showdown. Stepping up to the tee was Jui Shen Lee, who absolutely rocketed one 317 yards. Thinking he had the TaylorMade M5 Driver prize in the bag, a close friend of his, Ko Yen Chang Chien, warmed up to hit his drive. Chien smashed it and we all impatiently waited to see if he could out-drive Lee. The distance came over the radio 318 – just one-yard past Lee.
